The Oba, in his coronation speech, had decried the act of unlawful land acquisition that had characterised the CDAs; this he said had also affected land acquisition and development by citizens and investors in the state, calling for the move to scrap out their activities in the state.
Presenting the bill to the governor for his signature, the speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Justin Okonoboh said the new law was not only about prohibiting CDA's activities in the state, but also about prohibiting forceful entry into people's landed property and protecting widows' rights to their husbands' property.
Governor Obaseki also commended the Oba for his support in making the law a success.
He, however, urged the Chief Justice of the state and security agencies to support implementation of the law in the state, adding that a task force chaired by retired Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase had been constituted to drive the enforcement of the law and supervise all matters related to the law.
Governor Obaseki urged the public to be familiar with the provisions of the law and abide by them, adding that ignorance of the law is no excuse.
The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II said the new law signified a major milestone both in the Obaseki-led administration  and in his reign commending the governor and the Edo House of Assembly for their swiftness in the passage of the Bill into law.
The Oba also assured the affected youths of their rehabilitation and empowerment.

AY COMEDIAN REPLIES FRIENDS ASKING FOR FREE TICKETS

AY Comedian has had enough from ‘friends’ asking for free invites to his upcoming AY Live Show. This was evident in his sarcastic post on Instagram some hours ago.

“it's sad that some people around you still don't see showbiz as an investment directed towards any form of returns. The tickets you want to sell are mistaken for INVITES. They even call you with all the confidence in the world saying "Ay how come i am yet to get my invite to your show?" lol
Anyways lets make it easy for each other in order to have a successful show this Sunday. so those of you calling me to ask for free tickets to AY Live, please visit any of our ticket outlets with your ID card and a copy of an Essay on "How i helped AY's Career over the years" to get your tickets. Dont forget to show them a flyer of me on it as a proof that you have a personal relationship with me. This is also not forgetting those who are entitled to some complimentary tickets with a MAJOR preference of seating on the premium tables, kindly come with extra 9 friends each to make it a complete table. it would be a good time to let them know how you paid for the hall, accommodation, performing artistes, publicity, coverage and  general production logistics, including my daughter's last school fees”.

AFOLAYAN RECONCILES VETERAN YORUBA ACTORS ...CASTS ANTP, TAMPAN, NANTAP, AGN IN NEW MOVIE

In what appears like a first step at reconciling top members of the Yoruba Film sector who have been divided along professional association line, notable filmmaker Kunle Afolayan is making good his promise by casting the 'sworn enemies' in a film production, currently ongoing in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The film, with the working title, 'Stella and Oba', stars veteran actors, Jimoh Aliu (Aworo), Lere Paimo (Eda Onile Ola), Wole Olowomojuore (Baba Gebu) and Olajumoke Ray Eyiwunmi (Mama Ray), all of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) playing alongside the association's estranged members like Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello) and Lanre Hassan (Iya Awero) who are now of the newly established Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

Kunle Afolayan had promised to reconcile the factions during the 20th Anniversary celebration of the passing of his father, the iconic Ade Afolayan (Ade Love) which took place in Lagos and Agbamu, Kwara State, last December.
The star-studded 'Stella and Oba' is being handled by Golden Effects Productions and directed by Kunle Afolayan for filmmaker, Lasun Ray, a beneficiary of the Bank of Industry's NollyFund Loan Scheme.

Described by promoters as a film like no other, 'Stella and Oba" also stars top cross-over acts; Zack Orji and Tina Mba, including music sensation Chidinma Ekile, Ken Eric and 'October 1' actor, Demola Adedoyin.
In what seems like an all-inclusive Nollywood Production, Orji of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and Mba of National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) are also in the fold.
It is the fourth film being directed by Afolayan this year, coming shortly after the completion of 'Roti', 'Omugwo' and 'Tribunal'.

‘Omugwo’ is one of the three films, produced in partnership with AfricaMagic. It tells the story of Omotunde, a young civil engineer, married to Raymond an OAP (On Air Radio Personality), and has just given birth. Coloured by their different cultural backgrounds, their mothers-in-law forcefully move in with the couple to perform the Igbo child care rite called Omugwo. But instead of relieving their children of the burden of childcare, the mothers' rivalry complicates life for the young couple to comical effects. ‘Omugwo’ stars Patience Ozokwo, Ayo Adesanya, Ken Erics Ugo and Omowunmi Dada.
