TOSIN MARTINS & AREMU AFOLAYAN’S FAMILIES WELCOME BABY GIRLS

Congratulations to Nigerian Actor - Aremu Afolayan and the ‘Olomi’ Crooner - Tosin Martins on the birth of their babies, this week. 

Both celebrities had baby girls in different hospitals outside the country. 

Aremu is the younger brother of Film maker, Producer and Director, Kunle Afolayan. Praising God, he referred to the baby as God’s gift; naming her Iyunade. 

Tosin Martins also took to Instagram to announce the good news confirming alongside that both mother and baby girl are doing fine.
“Freshly delivered this morning in a London Hospital. Mother and Baby Girl are excellent and all this Father can say is: ‘I wish I had a thousand tongues …..” He said. 

Since then, friends and fans online have been sending congratulatory messages to both families.

NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVES 8 NEW UNIVERSITIES

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved eight new private universities across the country.

The approval was granted, Wednesday, during a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, which held at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Minister of State for Education, Anthony Onwuka, who briefed State House correspondents, said the ministry “submitted a memo seeking approval for eight private universities after recommendation by the NUC”

He said the eight approved universities include Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos; Arthur Jarvis Akpabuyo University, Calabar, Cross River; Clifford University, Owerinta, Abia; Coal City University, Enugu; Crown Hill University, Kwara; Dominican University, Ibadan, Oyo; Kola Daisy University, also in Ibadan; and Legacy University, Okija, Anambra State.

Mr. Onwuka said the new universities were given three years provisional license.

He also said all the new universities are to be mentored older ones.

He said Anchor University will be mentored by the University of Lagos, Jarvis University by the University of Calabar and Clifford University by the University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Coal city University will be mentored by the University of Nigeria Nsukka; Crown Hill University by the University of Ilorin; while the two new universities in Oyo State, Kola Daisy and Dominican universities, will be mentored by the University of Ibadan.

Legacy University, Okija, will be mentored by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

It is another time of year when reward is to be given for excellence as the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has announced nominees for the 2016 Male & Female Table Tennis Stars & Star Point awards, with the winners to be crowned at the 2016 ITTF Star Awards in Doha, Qatar on the 8th of December 2016.  Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has been nominated and shortlisted in the four-man list.
Quadri would be looking forward to repeating the feat achieved two years ago as the first player that will win the award for the second time.
The 2016 ITTF Star Awards, which is in its fourth edition, will be held at Doha's famous and prestigious Sheraton Hotel to celebrate the world's best table tennis players' achievements in 2016.

She gave birth on Tuesday at St. Mary’s General Hospital, US and afterwards she said:

BENIN COMMENCES ACTIVITIES FOR THE CORONATION OF NEW OBA

Activities for the coronation of the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ambassador Eheneden Erediauwa as the Oba of Benin commenced during the weekend as the Edaiken finally departed Uselu in a foot procession from Egua-Ediaken in Uselu to Benin.

The occasion was witnessed by prominent Benin sons and daughters as well as dignitaries and supporters came out en masse.

 

CORPS MEMBER DECLARED MISSING

A National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member serving in Zamfara State, Shorunke Lukmon Olayiwola, has been declared missing.

Lukmon is a former student of the University of Ilorin and 2015 batch B Stream 1 Corps member serving in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State with code number ZM/15B/1100.

He was declared missing on September 21 after he left his home in Abeokuta to board a night bus to Zamfara for his final clearance.

Sources disclosed that he was on his way to Zamfara in preparation for the NYSC’s batch B Passing Out Parade (POP) scheduled for October 6.

According to a sibling of the missing Corps member who simply identified herself as Laide, Lukmon informed his relatives that he would pass the night in Ibadan if he couldn’t find vehicle to Zamfara.

OSHADIPE TWIN CELEBRATES 2 YEARS OF SISTER’S DEMISE

Kehinde of the Oshadipe Twins continues to celebrate the demise of her twin sister – Taiwo, after two years. Her sister and singing partner died in 2014 from the Lupus disease.

Kehinde, who has been keeping up in the entertainment industry especially with a student lifestyle and entertainment programme on wapTV called Campus Bits,  also showed appearance in an interview on a live Cable Television this morning to talk about how it has been without her duo in the last two years.

She thanked fans, friends and family for their continued support, sharing on Instagram this post:

Last year, Kehinde organized an Awareness Walk titled “#WalkAgainstLupus”. The walk was aimed at creating an awareness about the deadly disease and also to improve the quality of life of all those affected by Lupus. Also in honor of her late sister and humanity, an NGO called (TOTI) The Oshadipe Twins Initiative for Lupus was launched.
