EDO PDP SAGA: SECURITY MEN HALT ALI MODU SHERIFF-ORGANISED GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY

The scheduled primary of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP in Edo State expected to hold today - Wednesday, June 29 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin suffered a setback as security men took over the venue. 
The Primary had Member Representing Egor and Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma and former Majority Leader Edo House of Assembly, Mr. Matthew Iduoriyemkemwen as aspirants. 
Policemen and Officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps took over the venue – the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and barred athletes and other persons from entering the Stadium. 
A police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they had been instructed not to allow anybody enter the premises, a directive from above.
The first set of delegates arrived the venue at about 20 minutes to ten o’clock and left shortly. 
 No INEC Official was seen at the venue while an unidentified man was removing the campaign poster of one of the aspirants.
A musical band contracted to play for the factional delegates at the primary were denied access to the venue. 
Some staff of Ministry of Sports and athletes who came to train at the stadium but were turned back by security agents frowned at the development.

WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY: NEW GOOGLE DOODLE HONOURS LANDSTEINER, DISCOVERER OF BLOOD GROUPS

Karl Landsteiner, the subject of Tuesday’s Google Doodle, may not be a household name, but his work helps save millions of lives every day.
The Austrian-American biologist, in 1901, discovered the four blood types — A, B, AB and O — leading to the first-ever blood transfusion six years later.
Landsteiner also collaborated with scientist Erwin Popper to lay the foundation that led to the discovery of the poliovirus, thus enabling the treatment of a disease that afflicted millions of children.

MEET THE 57 SOLE ADMINISTRATORS FOR LAGOS LGS & LCDAS

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday swore in new sole administrators to take charge of the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State, with a reassurance that his administration would spare nothing to make governance at the grassroots vibrant and responsive.

The Nnenna & Friends Children’s Day Show held on the 27th of May 2016 at National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos was indeed a huge success. It had over 3,000 audience members present.

QUEEN IDIA RULES ON PEFTI FILM INSTITUTE STAGE

May 2016 was a landmark in Bini Kingdom history; His Royal Highness Eheneden Erediauwa, the Edaiken N’Uselu, was presented to the public as the next Oba, and PEFTI Film Institute performed Don Pedro Agbonifo Obaseki’s Epic Play, IDIA.

History came alive. The strength of the African Woman was celebrated, as Queen Mother Idia led an army of 10,001 slaves and bronze-smiths to war, on the stage of PEFTI Film Institute.
 

AFRICA LOSES ONE OF HER FINEST; LIFE & TIMES OF KESHI


One of Nigeria and Africa’s finest in football, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi died in the early hours of today (Wednesday) in Benin City, Edo state, at the age of 54.
“With thanksgiving to God, the Ogbuenyi Fredrick Keshi Family of Illah in Oshimili North Local Government Area of  Delta State, announces the death of Mr. Stephen Okechukwu Chinedu Keshi,” Mr. Emmanuel Ado, a brother to the late coach said in a statement.
“Our son, brother, father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, has gone to be with his wife of 35 years (Nkem), Mrs. Kate Keshi, who passed on the 9th December, 2015. Since her death, Keshi has been in mourning. He came back to Nigeria to be with her. He had planned to fly back today Wednesday, before he suffered a cardiac arrest. He has found rest.”

NNENNA STEPS OUT GLAMOUROUSLY ON CHILDREN’S DAY

When beautiful Singer, Model, Actress and Children’s TV Programme Host – Nnenna (Olayinka Ademo) stepped out at her Children’s Day Show held at National Theatre on Friday, all her fans unanimously agreed that she looked stunning.
Her glamorous outfit was made by Ceoluminee, the same brain behind Mercy Aigbe Gentry’s AMVCA outfit. 
Nnenna, a graduate of Marketing from the Lagos State University, with unquantifiable love for children, has a post-graduate degree in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Lagos.

She is happily married and blessed with a set of twins.
