It was an emotional moment at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital Mortuary, Benin City as sports lovers and relatives converged to pay their last respect to Former Super Eagles Coach and Consultant on Edo State Grassroot Football Academy, Shuaibu Amodu. Cousins of the late Coach, Prince Kassim Afegbua (Edo State Commissioner for Information & Orientation) and Barr. Ankuri Afegbua who shared their last moments with Coach Amodu said he visited them friday morning and later in the night, and only complained of chest pain, and a doctor checked his blood pressure which was 140 over 100 and he was advised to take his drugs and also stop participation in the Ramadan Fast.
Prince Afegbua said the late coach later led the Muslim fasting prayer and thereafter went to bed after eating and was discovered dead in his room at his G.R. A residence at about 4am yesterday.
Former coach of the national female team, Godwin Izilein  described the death of Amodu, just four days after the death of Stephen Keshi, as a double tragedy for the nation while other coaches and sympathisers mourned the late 4-time Manager of the Super Eagles and Technical Adviser of the NFF.

The remains of the late Coach later left Stella Obasanjo for Okpella Etsako East where he was buried according to Islamic rites.

Coach Shaibu Amodu died few days after the death of  his colleague, Stephen Keshi.
