SUPERSTORY & SFH CALL FOR ACTING AUDITIONS

Superstory, Nigeria’s Most Watched TV Drama, has entered into a partnership with Society for Family Health (SFH) Nigeria to produce a special season, titled Free to Live, aimed at increasing awareness on Malaria Prevention and Treatment; and to this end, an Acting Audition has been announced.
Wale Adenuga Jnr., Producer of Superstory, had this to say: “SFH has been doing an awesome job across Nigeria for over 30 years. We are excited with this partnership and have put together this fantastic Superstory: Free to Live script. All we need now are the right actors and actresses; and this audition is the perfect opportunity to discover some fresh talents to portray certain characters as they begin their journey to worldwide stardom.”

PEFTI FILM INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES ARTS FESTIVAL

PEFTI Film Institute has announced the inaugural edition of PEFTI Arts Festival, scheduled to hold from 22nd – 27th August, 2016.
The week-long fiesta will showcase amazing talents and skills of PEFTI Students and Graduates in Acting for Screen & Stage, Music, Cinematography, Music Production, Directing, Presentation and other fields. The event would be attended by several celebrities and notable giants of the Film and Music industries.
 According to Abiola Adenuga, MD of PEFTI, “The PEFTI Arts Festival kicks off with Screening Student Films centered on Ecological concerns, from Monday, August 22nd to Tuesday, August 23rd. A Workshop for film enthusiasts comes up the next day.
On Friday 26th, the electrifying Obaseki’s play - IDIA, will be performed.
The climax of the festival is on Saturday 27th August; with a Music Concert and Awards Night, which includes the launch of PEFTI Band”.

EDO ELECTIONS: APC CANDIDATE REFUTES ‘NO CERTIFICATE’ ALLEGATION

Meanwhile, the Edo State Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Godwin Obaseki has released a court affidavit to refute the allegation over his eligibility for the governorship race. 
The affidavit states the loss of the original of the APC gubernatorial candidate’s Primary, Secondary, University and National Youth Service Corps Certificates.

According to this evidence, Godwin Obaseki attended St. Mathews Anglican Primary School, Sakponba Road, Benin City from 1963 to 1968. He proceeded to Eghosa Anglican Grammar School where he obtained his Secondary School Leaving Certificate in June 1973 after which he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies in 1976 from the Univercity of Ibadan.

Obaseki served the country under the one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Programme from 7th of August, 1979 and obtained an NYSC Certificate discharge dated 6th of August, 1980.

EDO ELECTIONS: PDP & APC TRADE ALLEGATIONS OVER CANDIDATES’ ELIGIBILITY

Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are trading allegations over the qualification of candidates ahead of the governorship election slated for September 10, 2016.

 PDP has alleged that the APC gubernatorial candidate Mr. Godwin Obaseki has no certificate while APC alleged that the PDP’s candidate - Pastor Osagie Ize - Iyamu is not a qualified lawyer.

In another development, the Governorship candidate of the Ali Modu Sheriff-Faction of PDP, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyemkemwen has insisted he is the party's authentic candidate in the September 10 Governorship election.
Iduoriyemkemwen had audience with journalists where he said his position was based on the court ruling which suspended the planned National Convention of the Party scheduled for today in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Reports from omojuwa.com say armed mobile policemen have taken over Shark Stadium, venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Security men are all over Moscow Road, where the stadium is located. Vehicles are not allowed to enter the street, and those who decide to walk are being questioned.

SSS BLOCKS LAWMAKER FROM TRAVELLING, CONFISCATES HIS PASSPORT

Sunday Karim, a member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, is currently being prevented by the State Security Service from boarding a flight at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, the lawmaker has told PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Karim, representing Yagba East and West Federal Constituency, says he was on his way to the United States when state agents suddenly seized his passport as he tried to clear immigration.
The lawmaker said he was scheduled to travel by Air France, and that the flight was already boarding when he was blocked.

WHY I MET BUHARI - SOYINKA

The Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The meeting was scheduled as private and took place in the president’s office.
Mr. Soyinka arrived the villa at about midday Thursday and went straight in for the meeting.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr. Soyinka said he had come to “discuss national and international matters, general matters, that’s all”.
He declined to give further details, saying he would hold a press conference in about a week’s time.

Every August 12 is the United Nations International Youth Day.

EDO NULGE: WORKER SLUMPS DURING PROTEST


A local government worker slumped and died yesterday morning during a statewide protest organised by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Edo State over accumulated unpaid salaries.

The protest led by the National President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ibrahim Khaleel, had been what could be referred to as a mother of all protests. Thousands of council workers turned out for the exercise calling on the government to heed their cry over the non-payment of salaries of over 5 to 18 months.
