From all indications, Dayo Israel, one of the leading contenders for the Lagos Mainland APC Chairmanship position may have been out of the race. His most recent post on Instagram says the APC party has chosen a consensus candidate other than the gentleman. Although very painful, Dayo Israel takes solace in his unbeatable records while remaining grateful to all who stood by him. His thoughts have revealed that the consensus candidate for Lagos Mainland is a woman.
READ DAYO ISRAEL’S CONCESSION SPEECH BELOW:
“Dear Friends,
Compliments. Let me begin by thanking you for the great moral, material, financial and technical support you all have given to our campaign.
I say our campaign because this campaign was never about Me. Neither was it about an aspiration for a position but for our collective aspiration to see for qualitative leadership at the grassroot level especially in Lagos Mainland where I ran. It is about our desire to see young people with skills and competence aspire for political leadership and win - and it was our hope that our victory will inspire many others to do same, and further promote youth mainstreaming.
As it appears, my party, the APC have chosen a consensus candidate for Lagos Mainland Chairmanship - and it is not me at this time.

I am sure a lot of you are disappointed, I am too and so do thousands of Mainlanders and my friends who share our vision. It is understandable, we have ran a very intensive campaign. We have mobilised and worked. We did not only use social media but worked tirelessly in the grassroot. It is on record that I am the only aspirant who visited all the 9 ward GA. But sometimes God has a better plan, which we may not be visible to us as human.
However in every situation there is a reason to be grateful. The process has been an eye opener. I have learnt, I have made friends, I have also had the opportunity to do what I love to do best - touch lives. I have done this before choosing to run and it would not stop. This is the purpose for which I was born.
I have called and congratulated our candidate, and pledge to support her administration in every way I can. I am more delighted that she is a woman and wish her the best in bringing happiness to Mainlanders. Gender mainstreaming is as important as youth mainstreaming, however we must not leave young people behind even as we push for gender mainstreaming.
We have seen from this election that our democracy still has a long way to GROW, but I still believe strongly in our party and the power of democracy in shaping our world”.

“have learnt lessons. Like my uncle called it, I just did am M.A in Political Science.
I will spend the next few weeks praying and seeking the face of God on what next politically. In the meantime, I will return to my international development work to contribute to the actualisation of the African Union Agenda 2063. I am passionate about creating a prosperous Africa where poverty and hunger will have no place.
Nonetheless, our political structure (Ibere Otun Group) will continue to grow. This is important, because our civic duty to our community is not just during elections but all the time. We must be actively involved in the governance of our society. excos including the LGA to share our vision as well as ran project in all parts of our LGA. I want to thank our campaign team. From the leadership to volunteers, Froggy and the team in the west, Gani and the team in the east, and all our campaign team members - you all poured your hearts into this. I am grateful.
To all those who supported me in any form, especially, spiritually, morally, materially and financially, even as small as N1000. I say a big thank you.
This loss hurts, very much. But I will never stop standing up for what is right and playing a part in growing our democracy, by the Grace of God.
I have no doubt that there are many other ways to serve my country and will explore those opportunities as they arise.
I am grateful to our constitution for the right to run, I hope we can work together to ensure the same constitution is amended so that more young people can run because we are #nottooyoungtorun.
I thank you all.

Since Dayo Israel declared his intention to run, he has successfully hosted various community-based empowerment programmes, too many to mention.
