The State Government is calling on
all Lagosians and interested individuals to download the ‘One Lagos’ App developed
as part of efforts to boost tourism and make Lagos the preferred destination in
Africa.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts
and Culture, Mr. Folorunsho Folarin-Coker who made this known at a Ministerial
Press briefing in commemoration of the 1st year anniversary of the Governor
Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration stated that the app was developed to enable
every resident and visitors in Lagos make informed decisions on tourism choices
and destinations within the State.
Mr. Folarin-Coker explained that the
ministry recognizes the importance of strategic branding of destinations to the
development of tourism and is exploiting the identified benefits of destination
branding by registering the “One Lagos”, “Love Lagos”, and the “One Lagos
Fiesta” brands at the trademarks registry. “Consequently, using technology,
creativity, arts and culture to push the new Lagos agenda, we have developed
the ‘One Lagos’ website and mobile application to provide authentic Lagos
content for tourists and residents of the state.”
According to him, the app showcases “the true spirit” of
Lagos by providing real time information on arts and cultural events,
nightlife, entertainment, lodgings as well as emergency services, traffic and
weather reports and much more.
The app and
an interactive website, the ‘One Lagos’ brand is scheduled to be
launched formally before the end of this month and will serve as the countdown
to “Lagos @ 50” celebrations next year.
